It’s awesome that Utada’s making the most of her remaining works before she goes on an indefinite hiatus. At least she’s really leaving with a bang!

  2. Her song in a Yamapi movie? That’s pretty amusing.

OMG, this is so friggin’ cool! I was wondering when another one of these was going to happen again (I don’t think she’s had a movie tie-in since “Be My Last” and ‘Spring Snow in 2005, and that may have been her very first one ever besides typical J-dramas or Japan-based product advertising); I’m personally glad that so that all the (previously) new EP tracks off SCV2 are getting this much attention and demand, it can only help the album sales and make her presence that much more sustaining to the greater public while she’s on hiatus. I’m not exactly a rabid NEWS fan in terms of music, but I do think Yamashita Tomohisa is a pretty great actor (Nishikido Ryo’s the best from the group) and I did love him in STAND UP!,Nobuta Wa Produce, and CODE BLUE. Ashita No Joe’s is definitely a pioneer of and one of the best manga (in plot and artwork) ever so it’ll be interesting to see how’s its adapted to the big screen and if we get a PV for “Show Me Love” since this has been the fabled fan favorite from Utada over the last year!…

Wow, one song is used in a commercial, one song has a music video, and one song is being used in a movie – and the album’s not even out yet! Hikki meant it when she said the end of the year was going to be filled with Hikki news. I hope some altruistic Japanese individual will post Show Me Love on YouTube so I can listen to it! I will of course buy it legally once I can here in the states, but… I can’t wait that long ><

  5. Alex0821 says:

Just listened to the sample… I’m not surprised she did something like this, given her cover of “The Bitter End” for the In The Flesh tour. Hmm, I’m not sure what I think. It might be a little too rock for me, actually (I’m really more into pop music, which is why I just love “Goodbye Happiness”). But it’s Hikki, so I’ll give it a chance once the full version is made available.

  6. Nao says:

I LOVE rock Hikki!!! Now I have to hear the rest. *Scuttles off to order Single Collection volume 2*

  7. vmoriyama says:

Can’t listen to it…I have a mca…but I knew it was going to be a rock song!!! Can’t wait to listen to it!

  8. vmoriyama says:

    I have a mac I mean…

  9. nancybfly says:

Awesome! I can’t wait to hear the whole thing.

Hmmm, I have a mac and I can listen to it. If it is a windows media player issue then you need Flip4Mac. http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm

  10. shiawase says:

Not a fan of rock or any related sound to be honest but hey the sample sounds catchy and I’m intrigued by the lyrics (’it’s all in my head’) the vocals and all that jazz so bring it!

  11. Bubu says:

A ROCK SONG! it’s been a loooong while *sob*

  12. Thump says:

If we do get a video, I doubt Hikaru’ll be in it. I’m thinking a montage of Yamapi boxing and training while the song plays? Not that I’m complaining, mind you :)

  13. jessipooh says:

Mac people: you can open the preview files (and pretty much anything else) with VLC (video lan player.) Just remember to keep it patched :)

Rough translation of “Show Me Love (Not A Dream)”

I tried to contain it but it wouldn’t disappear
Slowly, it sinks back to the bottom of the lake.

Trying for both, but obtaining neither
Tiring of contradictions, my heart becomes a little heavy

They say running away only makes you more afraid
    I thought I knew…

    I can’t just say “Don’t worry, I’m sure one day…”
Asking for pity due to a lack of courage won’t let me see
My own internal passage (Show me love)
Internal passage (Baby show me love)
It’s all in my head (Can you show me love)
It’s all in my head (Not a dream)

The purple traffic light shines and my thoughts come to a halt.
    Only my insecurities don’t stop.

I am weak, but I don’t really think that’s anything to be embarrassed about

In reality, everyone should hold a deep darkness
Be hurt, struggle, yell and shout
And find the root of the pain (Show me love)
Find the root (Baby show me love)
It’s all in my head (Can you show me love)
It’s all in my head (Not a dream)

Let’s forget the theories we built
Once you climb a mountain it’s just a descent

In reality, even the deepest love is not perfect
It’s something only you can give to yourself
The courage to recognize oneself (Show me love)
The courage to recognize (Baby show me love)

In reality, the moment you realize you were just living in a dream
Is the first time you take a step with your own power
My own internal passage (Show me love)
Internal passage (Baby show me love)
It’s all in my head (Can you show me love)
    It’s all in my head

OMG!!!!!!! The song is amazing! I LOVE it! The lyrics are so beautiful and I mean you really do forget about the rock and recognize the beauty of the song.

  17. RJ says:

A much more eloquent translation, courtesy of Highway-Chance from JPM:

I could hold it back but I couldn’t make it disappear
It sinks slowly back into the depths of the lake

Chase two rabbits and you won’t get either
    Exhausted from all the contradiction
    My heart grows heavy

I know that if I run away
    I’ll only grow more afraid
    But…

    “Don’t worry, someday.”
I wish I could say those words
Spoiled by your lack of confidence you’re blind
Blind to the passage to my heart
    Passage to my heart

    It’s all in my head
    It’s all in my head

    The purple street lights shine
My thoughts come to a halt
    Only my anxiety goes on

    I’m weak
But it’s not something I’m ashamed of

No one is really bearing deep darkness
At times we are sick, we drown, we scream, we scream
Search for the source of our pain
    Search for the source

    It’s all in my head
    It’s all in my head

Let’s forget the burdens we’ve placed on ourselves
How do I climb off this mountain?

In reality, however deep the love
    It isn’t perfect
Something you can only give yourself
    The courage to accept yourself
    The courage to accept

When you realize were dreaming all along
You move forward with your own strength for the first time
Down the passage to my heart
    Passage to my heart

    It’s all in my head
    It’s all in my head
