Congrats!!! She’s also on the top-selling albums list TWICE!

This all makes me SO excited for her concert! What time are people gonna start lining up??

  2. Makes perfect sense to me; this proves the fact that the Truth prevails over time, trends, and fads of an era. There are always going to be those with superior marketing and fashion nostalgia, but you can’t breed great singer-songwriters that produce the real deal anymore, and Utada’s living proof of that not just for J-pop but for the rest of the world music industry. She and Lady GaGa and Taylor Swift (and to a lesser extent recently, Susan Boyle) prove that that CD albums and singles can still achieve outstanding multi-platinum sales if you give the mainstream the real deal without totally selling out behind the public’s eyes…

She is One of the Best singer in this generation! =)

Now that’s what i’m talking about!!!Utada is rocking the house like no other artist out there in this generation, and she deserves all the recognition she can get. She is definately a hardworking AND outstanding artist that i wish people living in this era around the world (Especially in NA) atleast knew about…they don’t have to listen to her, but just know/recognize her;for the amazing work she’s accomplished in the music industry. at her age, what she has done is fantastic, and it certainly should be reconized within this decade, IMO, of boring and lame music.

I’m so glad this is put out there for all to see. Athough this will just cause all of the other fans devoted to other artists despise Utada more. Ha.

Tis a shame, but nothing new.

    I’m so loving this.
    So satisfying.

Is it bad that I’m getting so much Sadistic pleasure out of this?

Well they had it coming and most of all, so did Utada.

    You go girl!!!!!

Utada, she’s lasted for more than 10 years and I hope for another 10 years. She has more than talent, she is real. When we talk about Utada’s music, we talk about her life.

  8. I wonder since the article mentions her trend of releasing new studio albums evry 2 years if we’ll see her 6th japanese album @ the end of 2010/top of 2011 or that long overdue 2nd singles/greatest hits compilation since we have @ least 12 japanese A-sides whom yet to be released in such a format. It’d be awesome to see her break the double million mark again and reach #1 on the Yearly Ori-con albums chart!

Some very interesting/bold statements made in that article. A few of of them made me chuckle, too. :D

Well, Utada certainly deserves the recognition — congratulations to her. (:

  11. tobutori says:

Yes, my favorite singer is the most influential! Utada Hikaru all the way!

  12. FinalxxDistance says:

Omg please don’t compare an actual artist like Utada to overrated trash pop like Lady GaGa, that’s an insult to Utada!

  13. IHEARTHIKKI says:

i wouldn’t say that lady gaga is trash pop

she isn’t of the same class as utada, but she’s still an artist.

she’s great live and she composes her own music, which is vary rare for actual trash pop singers like Britney Speares who copped alot of crap for lip synching

  14. chocolateislove says:

^I agree, Lady Gaga is actually really unique and talented. Just because her music is catchy and trendy doesn’t mean she is a sell-out. In my opinion, she’s what American music needs right now–someone who caters to their tastes and is true to themselves (aka, weird and loving it).

Ok, now that I’m done with my rant, WOOT GO UTADA! She deserves all the credit she gets!

  15. sakurablooms13 says:

YESS!! I am so happy for her, she literally deserves it, and you know this article really proves just how much boy bands fed off of Utada’s Japanese R&B sound(not that it was all her)to make some money, EXILE for one is a really good group but I noticed that they too have taken on an r&b style although I gues most have….Oh, well…I am glad she is being recognized.

  16. FiresEmblem says:

Oh definitely, she deserves this. She’s genuine, brilliant, beautiful both internally and externally, and her music matches her perfectly. I’m not ashamed to say that I love Utada Hikaru! =D I can’t wait for her next single. =O

  17. Ghostdog says:

Just to let you guys know Lady Gaga and Utada share a close mutual friend, Mika.
So don’t be too surprised if Utada, Mika and/or Lady Gaga collaborate together on a project in the near future.
    Consider the possibilities.
BTW: congrats to Utada she certainly deserves these accolades.

  18. Alex0821 says:

^^If Utada, Mika, and Gaga did a three-way collab, I think my head would literally explode from the awesome XD
But it seems unlikely – Gaga’s been around for a year and is already doing collabs with the likes of Beyonce, who at this point is a legend waiting to happen. And even if she did want to dominate the Japanese market for whatever reason, she’d probably go with someone more her style (I don’t know any other Japanese artists or I’d give an example), and by the time she does that Utada might not be making music anymore, anyway.
An Utada/Mika collab, on the other hand, seems pretty possible to me, and I would gladly accept that alternative.
But stranger things have happened (Utada and Foxy Brown, anyone? XD)
