Like InnerRise said, it would probably be small venues if it is in America. I mean, TITO has had less sales than Exodus so far (I’m pretty positive anyway), so I doubt they would have an all-out tour to promote her in America.

Besides, BoA just ended up at things like the Jingle Ball concert in Philly or w/e, that’s pretty small scale stuff. I imagine that that’s what they’d do with Utada as well.

Also, it’s great if they want to try and boost the promo on TITO, buttt…I just don’t know if things will take off so easily.

Also, I don’t think Dirty Desire needs a remix, but that’s just me.

I think she will perform at the mid-size venues, which are about 1,000-5,000 in size. I hope she chooses the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco or the San Jose Event Center.

Question: is it safe to say that something will probably precede the tour to help boost ticket sales? Like a video or new single (Japanese obviously) or at least some remixes? Because I’m already pretty jaded about Utada’s marketing techniques (probably due to the complacency that comes with topping the charts in Japan without even having to market herself at all), but if they do absolutely nothing to promote this tour, it’s worse than I thought.

Okay guys seriously, how can you guys have such a negative response to this sort of information and update? Our (presumably) favorite artist in the world is coming to share her English and possibly Japanese spectrums of her incredible music with us, and we’re going to say we won’t go c her simply because it may not be a “Large Scale Extravaganza” in the realm of her Bohemian Summer or Utada United Tours? Seriously, WHATEVER venue she’s playing @, if this sort of happening can’t convince you to take the time to go cher than I don’t know what the hey will. Its the biggest recession since the Great Depression and you have those kind of expectations of her? Please, even Madonna, Lady GaGa, Beyonce, and Britney Spears (probably the four biggest female artists on the planet right now) are struggling to pull in attendance for their tour shows, so if anything, something small scale would be ideal. I don’t care if she holds the concert @ the nearest city dump or major sewage line, I’m going to go take this once-in-a-lifetime advantage while its still plausible. Only God knows if she’ll ever even consider doing it again if her longtime fans are going to give her this kind of negative feedback!

I’m sure everyone on here talking about how against the tour they are will be the first ones in line when US tour dates are announced They’re grouchy, but they still love her. Doncha, IR (Can I call ya IR?)?

Would it be too much for her to just be the opening act for someone like Madonna or Lady Gaga? Even if its just for a ocuple dates? I would think that would get her name out there a little better than something like this…

I’ve been saying since her “This Is The One” Performances that I don’t want to see her tour until she gets her voice right.

That’s my issue. First impressions are important and for all intents and purposes let’s just call her promotion for “This Is The One” her “first impression”……well that wasn’t so hot. Twas embarrassing and cringe inducing to watch when she would perform. I don’t want that magnified multiple times in a tour, big or small.

She wasn’t ready earlier this year and not that much time has passed.

I’d die if I get to see Utada in person. But looks like I’m one of those unfortunate ones who wont be blessed with the opportunity to see her via this tour. Also, I agree with InnerRise regarding Hikki’s voice. I’d rather she stops doing any live performance than to hear her sing live the way she did for TITO till she fully recovers. =/

What’s wrong with a small, intimate kind of concert? I’d prefer seeing her like that than in a giant arena any day. The bests concerts I’ve ever gone to have been in small venues where you’re up close and personal. I’m not hoping it to be anything like UU06 at all. This kind of tour is going to be so much better, imo. I don’t know why anyway would be complaining. If you’re a fan of her English material and your complaining, you’re silly. And if you don’t like her English material and you’re complaining, you’re selfish. Hikki will no doubt go back to Japan. This tour may be the end of her activities in the west so to be straightforward, I think those complaining should shut up and step back. Let us who appreciate this decision enjoy it. You’ll get your precious Japanese music soon enough.

Coz if Hikki is not fully recovered yet, then that may cause something else. I suddenlly had a fear of something that you don’t have to know (coz you may call me pessimist fot it). But yeah, I agree to InnerRise.
And then I just read her blog titled “You can smile”. It’s like Hikki is telling us that we don’t have to worry about anything (at least for me). And for those who are disappointed on the small-scalle tour, “Why so disappointed when you got a good catch???” You are lucky Hikki will be touring there in your place.
Now, I’m just happy that there is a continuation for TITO promotions. And yeah, what happend to Lady GaGa may also happen to Hikki. U know, the song rerelease thing? U know what I’m saying..

The on-air performances weren’t good at all. Even if her voice has gotten weaker since Utada United, I think the main problem is that most of the singing on TITO is way out of her vocal range (I can’t even imagine her singing On and On or Poppin’ live). I’m not sure WHAT this tour is gonna sound like…
Lady Gaga became famous because she gave us just what the doctor ordered: her music is fun and she has a whole lot of personality, which America’s been craving since Britney’s insanity left her a hollow shell of what she once was (I saw her on tour; it was like watching a robot programmed to dance and move her mouth).

hikki actually has a decent fan base in Australia, considering there’s so many asians.

Great idea IHEARTHIKKI! But what I noticed is that Utada is only going to tour in the countries where she releases her albums and where she went to do the Meet and Greet which was in Hawaii.
I think she can become really popular in Australia if they bothered to release her albums here. She might even become more popular than Delta Goodrem! Although she is but I mean in Australia.

C’mon, have you ever been to a concert by any of those artists? They usually, if not always, have sold-out concerts. Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet Tour is the highest-grossing concert tour by a solo artist (male and female) and Britney extended her tour because there’s such a huge demand for it. And I would kill to see Beyonce or Lady Gaga perform!
Btw, I haven’t seen anything negative here so far, so there’s no need to go that far. I’m just being pragmatic, not getting my hopes too high.

i loved the cover of the UK release of EXODUS much better then the american one. On another note, why not go all out on a world tour? even if they are small venues, Some of you guys have herd of Jolin Tsai? yes? well she’s a taiwanese pop singer who has labeled hoped and made a name for her self as a icon of the asian pop scene, She had a world tour back in 2006 and came to Sydney, Australia and if i’m not mistaken had a near sell out show of 7500+ one night only. Jolin has never released in Australia, shes had 10 mandarin albums, and 1 english album of cover songs which never went anywhere, the whole concert was in chinese, she only spoke chinese inbetween. so my point is if someone unknown to the public like jolin can do that, then i’m sure someone like Utada with english as her first language, a collection of english material, and is semi known among some other then just gamers, she could probably pull off a world tour at medium sized venues to major capital citys around the globe!

Sidebar twitter feed suggests that Chicago show has sold out–not true as of 11/15/09 11:05AM. Just bought 5 tickets! The four-pack special no longer exists though, which is a bummer. Tickets were $17.25 each in that pack! Oh well, can’t complain.

Well remember that everything was put off because of her Tonsilitis so that would be my guess as to why they would have waited so long.

As for signing a contract to tour and not wanting to. Well, it was a while ago when she started this whole thing with Def Jam and she’s in a different place now so it’s possible she doing this against her will.

You have a good point, it’s definitely possible that she was willing to sign a contract obliging her to do a few live shows way back when. I’m just wondering if signing such an extensive contract, for two albums and a “tour,” is typical.
They just posted something on Facebook to the effect of “here are the concert dates!” and there were only these 9 so I’m wondering if 10 was just a ballpark estimate and there really isn’t going to be one more venue announced?

If the rumor about the NYC show being moved from Irving to Roseland is true, I’m going to laugh out loud because when the tour was first announced, I predicted that she’d play in Irving or Roseland XD

It’s no cameras allowed though , hope they’ll be selling pictures and/or autographs, cause I wanna get one for my little sis, who can’t go and is like the biggest Utada fan that’s even crazier then me. BTW, go UTADA!

^^”no cameras allowed” doesn’t really mean no cameras allowed. Trust me, bring your camera, put it in your pocket (i.e. not your bag, in case security checks your bag), and then take as many pictures as you want. Trust me, everyone there is going to have a camera and you’re going to regret it if you don’t bring yours!

Bought 2 tickets for the London show as soon as the box office opened, then I got an email this morning:
“We are sorry to inform you that due to an administrative error on our part, your booking was processed in error, and was not part of the allocation of tickets we were instructed to sell on behalf of the venue.
We have no alternative other than to cancel and refund in full your ticket purchase. ”

Somewhat in a state of elevated annoyance.

@ rahvin. I went onto ticketweb.com and theb contact us and ask us a question. I wrote an email explaining how i’d already booked accomodation and travel to the event. They replied about Q week later saying that the event promotors had secured some additonal tickets for customers affected by this error and that they were on hold and would be free of charge. I emailed back to accept them. It’s a worth a shot!

^ I think because Vegas and Chicago have the smallest Asian populations out of all the tour cities. Both HoB’s are similar in size to the others

^ I think K-Pop as a whole is bigger in the US than J-Pop. However, you’re probably right about the lack of promotion. There’s no reason Hikki shouldn’t be able to sell out in Chicago or Vegas. I hope it’s at least near capacity come the actual show date.

Apparently, people who have ordered tickets got emails saying that “No camera’s allowed as requested by the artist.” Probably by her record company. Who knows.
