Utada Hikaru (JPN)

UPDATE: Recochoku (Chaku-Uta) downloads for “Beautiful World -PLANiTb Acoustica Mix-” have begun.

Camera phone pictures of the Evangelion 2.0 film pamphlet have begun to surface, seemingly confirming earlier rumors that the theme song will be a remix of Utada’s previous “Beautiful World.” The track is titled “Beautiful World -PLANiTb Acoustica Mix-,” and should be available for digital download in the next few hours.

    ^^off topic. o-o

FireEmblem: They’re not allowed to post the amount of money they make, but they are allowed to post the taxes they pay each year (which is relatable to the amount she makes :D )

And Ghostdog, everything about that video is perfect. I had forgotten why that was one of my favorite performances of hers. Video, looks, sound, confidence, it’s all there :)

even if she isn’t sick anymore..she’s probably out somewhere in the Caribbean sunbathing or something…heck, shes human too.she needs a break.if not, maybe shes making new music and wants it to be a surprise..if she’s still really sick, she probably doesn’t want to scare her fans too much with what she may have, if it had gotten serious from the last time she wrote.Wherever she maybe, laying on the beach, working in the studio, or God forbid on her “sick” bed, i hope she’s alright.

  5. InnerRise says:

Nothing is OBVIOUS. Some people on here are bipolar and notorious for jumping to conclusions on opposite ends of the spectrum. First her career is over and she has nothing else to give, then she’s married and pregnant and now she’s preparing her Will for her grandkids. It’s already been stated multiple times how every artist doesn’t blog or keep their fans up to date on every aspect of their life. What Utada does in that respect is extra and not NECESSARY or MANDATORY of a Celebrity. You’ve just been spoiled and expect too much. Her days of having to check in with her parents on her whereabouts are over and she certainly doesn’t have to check in with us. Stop writing Utada’s OBITUARY and wait until she actually dies okay. Sheesh.

  6. To get back to the point here: it’s sad that it’s only a remix of a previous song. I wonder what Hikki’s been doing this whole time then (if anything at all)…?

Well, whatever she’s doing, I hope something epic comes of it soon.

  7. manjowithane says:

I kinda wish she took a long break after Heart Station before starting work on her English album. Then she could have let her voice recover back to her Deep River days and promoted the hell out of TITO.

    I miss this voice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbBDWMKGZCU&feature=related

  8. FiresEmblem says:

I don’t think it’s a matter of just wanting her to post on the blog about something, InnerRise. I think a lot of people want her to do it, just for the heck of it, to show that she’s alive, or out there doing something. A lot of us are just in the dark, about Utada. Most Celebrities who aren’t blogging as much as Utada are already famous, and are promoting by other means than word of mouth. Utada, in the western regions, however isn’t. Nothing at all is going on about it. And in Japan, when something IS done, with this remix, and maybe the new single in august, nobody is happy.

  9. FiresEmblem says:

butyeah, about the predicting about pregnancy and death? Huh?!

  10. FiresEmblem says:

totally unnessecary. (sorry for triple post. I don’t think ‘Huh?!’ expresses that. LOL. It sounds like I am believing it.

  11. InnerRise says:

I know exactly why people want her to and it still doesn’t matter frankly. When someone doesn’t post on a blog and the only logical ASSUMPTION is that they’re on their death bed something is wrong, not with her, but those that assume that. She shouldn’t have to post on her blog to show she’s alive and she doesn’t have to. What if she didn’t have a blog? Would she just cease to exist?

  12. manjowithane says:

    ^’What if she didn’t have a blog?’

In that hypothetical situation nobody would expect her to update her blog to tell us what’s happened to her. But the truth is she does, and over a month ago she updated it to let her fans know the reason as to why her promotional work for TITO had to be cancelled. In that blog she also said she was approaching the end of her recovery after a week in and out of the hospital.

I’m not saying that she has to post on her blog, and nobody should be able to force her to let us know her current status. But since she has had no problem letting us know prior to this, a little update is only natural…

  13. Raito says:

I agree that she or her management team has to talk about her health situation, at least.

She has many fans not only in Japan, but in many countries waiting for some news about her. It doesn’t take more than 10 minutes to them post it.

  15. Hikki Love . says:

I think I’m just used to Utada blogging.
Maybe she is away getting ready for something big or having a long break which she should be having. A holiday with Kuma-chang.

    I miss her.

  16. Hikki Love . says:

At the end of that Beautiful World performance Ghostdog put up, she looked like she accomplished something when everybody applaud.
    She was so happy.

  17. barried says:

hmmm… i just realized that she has a private microphone, that mic always with her. @_@

  18. InnerRise says:

The fact is that for the most part, the information that American fans get on Utada is derived from her JAPANESE blog. Utada hardly ever posts on her English Blog. Updating her American fans hasn’t ever really been a top priority of hers. The only reason the American fans do get informed is because of the people who translate of their own volition. Utada has nothing to do with her American fans getting informed in that respect. So the fact that she has American fans doesn’t obligate her to blog anymore than if she didn’t. She doesn’t have to do anything. She can start and stop when she wants. We aren’t entitled. I know we Americans like to think we’re entitled to so many things but that’s not the way the world works I’m afraid.

  19. Not Fade Away says:

Utada should be mentioned on wikipedia’s list of best selling musicians of all-time, but she isn’t anymore. She was for a short-while and then someone took her off.

This is really upsetting to me especially considering Ayumi is still on the list and she’s only sold about 20 million (if even) more than Utada.

  20. FiresEmblem says:

Lol, yeah InnerRise. We have had a taste of her blogging, and we want so much more. We shouldn’t think that she’s dead. That’s absurd, I agree with that. Because we’ve had a taste, we think we deserve more. I think we’re just sad, or annoyed, that Utada doesn’t give as much priority as she does with fans in Japan. And she does so because there is such a larger fanbase in Japan. Which goes hand in hand with us wanting TITO to be such a success. We want to see Utada more. And blogging is just one way.

Hikki Love. : Yeah…she always has that happy look on her face after her performances. She seems so proud of her music, it’s astounding. And I miss her too. We all do. That’s why we are getting so riled up. xD

  21. Hikki Love . says:

As I listen to the original and this remix, it reminded me about Kingdom Hearts.
She wrote and remixed the song for the anime, probably not as a single.

  22. wadester1990 says:

InnerRise, I usually agree with most of the stuff you say, and I honestly don’t often post here, but what you said kinda crosses the line. I’m aware of the insanely small impact the U.S. fans have on her, and that we’re privileged for people to translate her blogs, but that doesn’t change the fact that they DO. I greatly enjoy reading her blogs and everything she has to say, and also worry about her health. I’m sure the Japanese community has a lot more to say on Hikki’s hiatus, not just us. It’s not exactly the “American ego” speaking here. I have none.

  23. Not Fade Away says:

Does anyone have any other good Asian artists that I can obsess over in the meantime, ;-P?

  24. Alex0821 says:

Thanks, Ghoat, I hadn’t realized that was a fan-made remix.
I listened to the full version, and I liked it just fine until the end, when it really became a mess. The original version handles all the different voices so much better, in sort of an ethereal manner, but this seemed muddled like they didn’t really know what to do with it.
And personally, I would just like to know how she’s doing. They told us she was sick, and I would like them to tell us when she’s healthy again. I don’t think she’s dead, or pregnant, or married, or WHATEVER. I would just like an update. We’re not entitled, but we’re allowed to WANT an update, just like we’re allowed to WANT a new single. There’s nothing wrong with any of that. Frankly, InnerRise, it’s a bit *hypocritical* of you to get mad when people call you needy for wanting a new single, then yell at people who only want to know she’s okay.

  25. Alex0821 says:

And, not to belabor the subject of the whole “is she at her peak” thing, but she said in an interview (God alone remembers which) that she was planning on making a “weird” next Japanese album. I specifically remember her saying that. So I really don’t think she’s done with music unless something weird came up and we really have no evidence that it did.

  26. gen says:

wow this is all pathetic and stupid. i don’t see japanese fans going this crazy. maybe she’s just quietly making music. maybe she’s still sick. maybe she’s filming another music video for the second single for the US. who knows? can you just be excited for whatever’s coming next? how many of you have tried to read the book “ten” before you complain about all this? i dont think you could be saying anything like all that “at her peak” thing if you’ve read it. it’s ok to be disappointed but it’s not ok to be disrespectful.

  27. La La says:

Just bought the song frm itunes!
I’m not loving this very much and I like the original version more.
But I do like they at least remix the song and create something new. I’d be too harsh for hikki to create something not by her own intention especially she’s sick and need time to recover.

Still support her, I’m a die-hard fans *lol

  28. InS0mN1@c says:

Watching Utada on Artist Spotlight on Channel V right now =O

  29. Thump says:

Some points of interest from the interview:
    - ‘This One’ was the last song recorded for the album. The line ‘This one, this is the one/Come on and give it up’ prompted her to name the album TITO
-Exodus was introverted, experimental, she wanted to prove a point about being different and showing her uniqueness
-TITO lets her step out into the open to let people see who she really is, that’s why she thinks of it as her ‘true debut’
-She wanted other people to do the arranging and trackmaking so that she would be free to focus on vocals and writing. Tricky and Stargate were chosen because American listeners are familiar with them
-Come Back To Me is quite a straightforward song so she didn’t want a cheesy storyline-based video. The dude in the video is supposed to be ghostly presence, can’t tell if he’s really there or not. She also admits to cheating, and says she can’t think of any other song about a woman asking for forgiveness after being unfaithful ( I can! Try Jazmine Sullivan’s ‘Need U Bad’)
-The US market is conservative, the radio and listeners are not interested in anything outside of the US
-Americans can’t seem to grasp the concept of being bicultural

It was a really short interview. Expected more considering the length of the slot

  30. Bernardo says:

I really liked the interview, principally when she explains the video.
but there were many things she’s said before.
but the best part was: “The US market is conservative, the radio and listeners are not interested in anything outside of the US”
it’s very difficult for outsiders being in US, imagine an artist trying to break through.

  31. Thump says:

She’s in the rather curious position of being both an insider and an outsider at the same time. Sometimes I think it might have been better to keep a lid on her Japanese catalogue and to market her as just another American artiste trying to promote her new record

  32. barried says:

She also said “that’s why The Beatles took a long long time before breaking the US market”

  33. aaron says:

I checked out most of her Japanese fan sites, and most of the Japanese fans have appreciated the new Acoustica mix. After some fans already saw the Evangelion movie yesterday, all of them have applauded the song, saying that the arrangement of the song is very suited for the movie.
On the other hand, American fans always complain although they don’t know what the new movie is like.
BTW, the Japanese fans are so worried that Utada might have done some surgery for her old vocal cord polyps or severe peri-tonsillitis.

  34. InnerRise says:

    Alex:
I figured some would see it that way but I’m not mad about anything. Just stating how I view it. And I’m not being hypocritical. I expected a new song and was disappointed. I never felt entitled to a new song. And yes I did want a new song like some want her to blog but there’s a difference. Artist release music as a profession. It’s what they do. Blogging is not their profession. They’re not expected to do it and not obligated. As long as she remains a Songstress with her contracts and all of that then she’s obligated to create new music. Singers sing as an occupation. Blogging is an extracurricular hobby. 2 different things. I’m not saying it’s WRONG to want an update. I certainly wouldn’t mind one although I don’t mind not having one. I’m saying it’s wrong to think she owes it to you and doubly wrong to berate her for not doing so.

  35. FiresEmblem says:

Darn. I want to see the intervi

  36. Overklocked says:

This is currently my favorite remix of any of her songs. The beat, the guitar during her verses are awesome. 2 thumbs up.

  37. Bernardo says:

the acoustica mix is very good, but there could be another song, a new one. I think it’s not creative.
