    woo lily allen!

just a side comment, but could it be possible for y’all to refrain from using “Jap” in the place of Japanese? I’m Japanese American, and use of that term is derogatory. I like visiting this site a lot, so it’d be great if you guys didn’t use that word.

  2. Alex0821 says:

Yes to the sangria, no to the Lily Allen =)

  3. camouflage says:

And before the Jewish American Princesses get offended too, Jap doesn’t mean that either, lol.

Utada news has become a bit lethargic, no? Thanks for the tunes, RJ. Beirut’s quavering voice–does he sound like that all the time? It’s great if he does.

  4. InnerRise says:

Love the Lily Allen shout out. Got her latest Album, “It’s Not Me It’s You” and was pleasantly surprised. My recommendations from that Album would have to be: “The Fear”, “Chinese” and “Him”.

  5. barried says:

I love Lily Allen’s works in her 2nd album. But the lyrics she wrote is too explicit and straight to the point. Just not my style.

  6. Xcapist says:

I like The Fear by Lily. Badass lyrics haha

  7. barried says:

I love Not Fair lyrics. LoL. She sang in a cool way.

  8. InnerRise says:

I never did like the country twang of “Not Fair”. Was surprised that she chose it for her second Single. So much more better songs to choose from. I know some versions of this song have the beginning of the second verse taken out because of obvious reasons. I don’t know of it’s included here though because I haven’t listened to it.

    BEIRUT!
A good friend of mine showed me about two months ago! They are amazing! It’s great that you put them up. I’ve never really listened to much of Lily Allen, but I’m under the impression she is quite violent, judging by the tabloids. But I don’t think that’s her fault. I’d hate paparazzi too. I’ll just take a listen and find out. :D THANK YOU RJ!

  10. FiresEmblem says:

I love the western pop vibe from ‘Not Fair’! Her voice is very clear, and…it sounds so, for lack of a better word, professional. She sings it so calm, and it just radiates ‘coolness’, if you will. I like how Lily Allen makes a typical western sounding song into a pop song, one that you can maybe hear on the radio. She has a lovely voice… And I love how you can hear her accent. When a lot of british artists sing, with some of them, their accents just disappear. It’s nice that it doesn’t with Lily. Great find! =)

  11. FiresEmblem says:

    Nantes, oh my.
That vibrato on the lead singer of ‘Beirut’, it never ceases to amaze me. I get some sort of Jazz vibe, mixed with every other genre known to man. The percussion is so mixed, with this variety of instruments, instruments that one could most likely find in your home. After every bit or so, you can hear the instruments slowly unfold itself. The thing about the song that always gets me though is when the brass instruments come in. The lyrics are moving, and the vocals, again, are supreme. Beautiful song. =) Great summer finds!

I really liked Not Fair, its very playful.
Look what I have found: http://www.masamixes.com/
This guy made some mash-ups with many J-songs and K-songs. Many of them with Utada.
I haven’t heard any of the K-remixes, but the J ones are very good.
I really liked the one he did with Brandy’s Departed and Utada’s Flavor of Life.

  13. barried says:

^ welcome to 3 months ago.

  14. Bernardo says:

    ;P ops! so late.

  15. sharon_lse says:

can someone tell me what RJ uses to upload the songs? i really wanna know. >.<

  16. Alex0821 says:

    “welcome to 3 months ago.”
Hahahahaha. But I LOVED that mashup… and thanks to said mashup, I discovered Brandy, whose music I absolutely love. Now THERE’S an artist that U.Blog should recommend.

  17. FiresEmblem says:

Did anyone notice that ‘Did Ya’ by Boa was played last night on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, by a dancer in the bottom three! That’s great promotion, even if it’s just for a little bit.

  18. Bernardo says:

but that Asuka should be Korean or something. Anyway this is a good promo.

  22. sakurablooms13 says:

Oh, I really like Lily Allen I agree out of many british singers they lose their acccent when they sing but the neat thing is that Lily doesn’t. from what I’ve seen Lily seems like a really nice person who wouldn’t be bothered by papparazi.

  23. Bozu says:

Lily Allen seriously kicks major ass. Kate Nash is great for summer too!

  24. InnerRise says:

Lily maintains her accent so well because she talks her songs. She’s like a storyteller with music playing. She’s not really singing all that much. And Kate Nash…..well she needs to get on her knees and thank Lily Allen. And Lily Allen…..she better had learned her lesson her first go around with all of her crazy juvenile antics and the papparazi business. She’s lucky she’s still accepted as an artist and not a joke like Britney Spears.

  25. vmoriyama says:

Hikki needs to get her butt back in the states!!! Better hurry girl! I’m not going to be here long!

  26. Hikki Love . says:

Just over a week until Evangelion will release. She’ll be back soon.
