Update: For fans near Santa Rosa, CA, it appears that Y100.9 FM will be giving away a trip to Hawaii to see Utada today, in the 12 o’clock (noon) hour. Make sure you listen!
Music store FYE will be holding special events with Utada in May to celebrate the release of her album “This Is The One.” According to their official MySpace page, Utada will be appearing at a Seattle area store on May 15th, and a Honolulu location on the 16th. No word on if other stores will be added.

i looked up the map and apparently the event in hawaii will be held at the center stage of ala moana mall.

I called the Seattle store to see if I needed to RSVP. The guy was like “oh, is that posted already…?”
He told me to call back in a week, but he didn’t seem to think that I’d need an RSVP for it- to just show up. Also, he recomended arriving early (which I agreed with, given the footage from the Sephora stores before…)
^ I think it will be much more organized this time around. It’s at an actual MUSIC store, so the store manager and employees should have a much better idea of how these signings should run. I don’t know if it’s a listening party, but either way, it’d be smart to have a queue for her signing. Everybody who buys a CD should get a wristband/ticket # and they should go by that to make it easier. There’s no way it should be as chaotic as the Sephora events if the organizers play their cards right.

I hope there are some unannounced U.S. t.v. performances and radio/magazine inteviews to correlate w/ that release date, she’s cutting it short as of late promotional work; I wonder when we’re going to hear about that European release date and possible cover switch???…

The Billboard 100 is a completely different animal. Sales for CBTM are far too low for her to chart at this point.
Why wouldn’t she do signings in NY and LA again? They caused quite an uproar last time.
Anywho, great she cracked the Top 40 Rhythmic. I didn’t expect that. I thought the song would’ve done much better on CHR/Pop.
@Bluevilla, I think because of the massive crowd. They might not have been or her security wasn’t prepared for such a huge crowd. She said on her blog, she was told things can get out of control if she sticks around too long. Which is understandable, some ppl will get desperate for an autograph.

It’s just I would figure they would want a crowd to show up, esp since this is the release of the CD and it’ll help sales with people having something to purchase this time (unlike the Sephora events where Utada didn’t have a physical CD for anybody to buy).
This is particularly interesting because I thought they’d closed down a;; the FYE stores nationwide already….makes me wish they hadn’t closed down the one in the Dallas Galleria already last year, o well, she’s going where they’re likeliest to get the biggest out turn! Hope this and all her other plans flow thru awesomely well!…
