Update: US MySpace has also posted about the Utada Karaoke Contest. It’s featured on the MySpace Karaoke main page. The winner of the contest will win a 3 day trip to Tokyo with up to three companions and a 30 minute karaoke session with Utada.
MySpace Japan has launched an Utada Karaoke Contest today, with winners being flown to Tokyo for an exclusive karaoke party with Utada. Entries are for “Come Back To Me,” with submissions being accepted between the 27th of April and May 10th. The listing mentions that a US version of the contest will also take place, with the international winner also gaining attendance to the party. More details to come. Thanks to Nakatani-san.

Oh my goodness. Why are people singing songs they’ve never heard of before? And on the off chance that they actually heard the song and were just “Trying to make it their own”, then they should have kept it to themselves. If I had a myspace, I’d enter. I’d also keep it nice and simple so that you’d know what I was actually singing. Ha.
Make the video as crazy as you can, and the video should be fun and silly. That’s what they looking for.
Not necessarily. I say as long as you sing it with feeling (and without deferring too much from the melody!) you’re all set. I hope Utada herself looks through the qualifying submissions. It was implied in her video, so we can hope~

I just recorded it…and its not uploaded to my page! The upload manager says upload failed and everytime I click retry, it just fails again! How do you fix this?

Thnks InnerRise, but I speak spanish (Hola), also portuguese (Ola). Both “Ola” and “Hola” mean “Hello”. It’s difficult to know wich one of them she speaks in the video.
