I’m pretty sure the performance will be inside, in the studio. But it’s on the ground floor of the GM building, Trump Plaza, which has glass windows so maybe one could see her on the set… I’m definitely going to go hover outside the studio, though. Maybe I can catch her coming and going. XD

This is amazing, but it’s always a pain trying to catch something on The Early Show. It lasts so long and you have to sit through the whole thing just to have what you wanted to see pop up in the last half hour or something like that. That’s if you don’t oversleep and miss it or fall back asleep while watching and waiting. All of which have happened to me. I’m not even sure if I knew The Early Show played during the Weekends. I hope it’s as watched as it is during the Week Days. Can’t wait. Hopefully the period between her Interview and Performance isn’t as brief and nonexistence as her previous one so that she may have time to transition from “Talking Mode” to “Singing Mode”. She really needs to be on top of things. This is big. Although if crappy “Singers” like Ciara can “Sing” live and still manage to have a career after revealing she can’t sing, I guess Utada having another off day won’t hurt her any as long as people hear the music on the radio and like it.

I also hope the period between her Interview and Performance isn’t as brief and nonexistence as her previous one….because I know Hikki can sing and I want her to show that to the US audience.

If you watch the other Second Cup Cafe clips, the interview happens AFTER the performance, so hopefully it’ll go a little smoother than last time. I’m still scared haha.

This will be pretty exciting to see, though I’m relying solely on the fact that it might be on youtube. But it may not. The CBS show would be pretty good coverage for working adults, and students, so it’s pretty cool that she’s advertising to all crowds, at least in a sense. About ‘Come Back To Me’, is it really off the charts so soon?

TITO is #18 overall! the highest it’s been unless I’m mistaken. It’s also back up to #3 on the pop charts, but ADELE’s album is way ahead (not sure why the sudden surge in sales considering it came out last year), so it probably won’t return to #2.
She’d better sing for her life tomorrow.

Anyone know what time taping for TES starts tomorrow? Or at least the cafe segment?

^Yes, an English album by a Japanese Pop, or any foreign pop, artist released digitally in the U.S. and charting that high on the Itunes Pop and Overall albums ranks is extremely impressive, especially since she’s still technically “breaking in” here and is only known to more underground and hardcore/diverse music fanatics like most all us here @ U.blog-lol-! Its success up to now is mainly due to the low pricing of it, but after these two major promotions listed above, CBTM @ radio and its accompanying video should have a major impressions increase across the board, and that’ll almost gaurantee TITO a solid physical sales performance and a digital mainstay for some time. IDJ and her management have really stepped it up this round, its almost impossible to get any more excited over anbything Hikki @ this point of career, especially if she does blow up huge everywhere the album goes outside of Asia. On another note, it looks as if MCML-F.Y.I and Me Muero are going to be the duke-outs for the single #2 status, because those are the only two other songs she seems attracted to live performing! (Although most personal or professional reviews I’ve read thus far have generally embraced the album as a whole, especially over Exodus, like the one from Bleu Magazine, which gave it a near-perfect 4.5 out of 5 stars-EXCELLENT job!)

To KingHikari009, I absolutely agree with you that Merry Christmas Mr.Lawrence – FYI or Me Muero may be the next single. But MCML – FYI has already been released to the public online, so that is more likely to be # 2. # 3 seems to be either Me Muero or Apples and Cinnamon. I’m excited!

I agree with you Predatory_Rose, but I she should go on a show without a band, like Ellen, or so, because she couldn’t perform otherwise. Unless they do perform on the late-night shows…. I’m only accustomed (unfortunately) to the Tonight show with Jay Leno, where that bald fellow with the bass plays in the band. Hopefully she gets there though! That would be exciting!

Gah. I’m still in the ‘Hikki is the only jpop artist I’ll ever listen to’ phase. There are millions of songs that struck a chord with me that weren’t by Utada, but only that song, usually (Except SUPERCAR, they are pretty great). I don’t really know much about BoA, but I feel BoA’s extremely dim compared to the brilliancy of Utada.

Wow, ‘This Is The One’ is number 4 on iTunes for UK, and 7 on iTunes in Canada, and #1 in Japan. That’s pretty awesome. I can’t help but wonder why it’s so high on the Canadian charts, though there was no promotion; because UK or any of those countries had no promotion, and yet is still not on the charts…Hm.

Fires, ‘This Is The One’ isn’t on the UK iTunes. She’s said herself that IDJ are surprised it’s charting as high as it is on iTunes – I guess they suddenly have a lot more faith in her now they’ve seen she’s actually shifting some units.

I wandered into an HMV, but on that day I had money for some various Coldplay albums, it never occured to me that there would be albums by Utada ! Once, I went into a Music World in this mall called Vaughn Mills, an interesting place at best, and I asked for Utada, and again I was reproached with that blank stare. I guess I was looking in all the wrong places! I’ll try again as soon as I get the chance!

Ok, bad performance again. Oh Utada… She should move on to another song, this is definitely hard for her to sing (like Be My Last).

I also find it extremely amusing that one of the segments before she sang was about unfaithful partners. Then Utada comes along: “I admit I cheated, don’t know why I did it, but I do regret it”

(I also liked the laundry + exercise segment. Thought that was hella classy.)

The performance wasn’t ultra terrible. CBTM was pretty bad, yeah, I agree with shinji, I think it’s one of those songs that don’t sound great live. FYI sounded pretty good though, she seemed to warm up and got more comfortable at the end. One thing is I think her vocals sounded way too loud. The background music was not loud enough at all. I think.

I’m just all ecstatic. I mean, Utada on my TV? My brain totally went asdfljadsf when I saw her.

To the S&C + Sanctuary questions:
Utada said they want to include them as bonus tracks on the physical release of TITO, but it all depends on Disney and Squareenix. They can’t put the tracks on the album if those two companies decide they don’t want it to happen. So it’s not OFFICIAL NEWS, it’s just a possibility.

If her vocal chords were damaged to the extend of making her sing bad… than she should really quit her music career. I don’t think that’s all true, but well, no point debating. What’s weird is that there are music artists singing all the time and doing 2 hours shows regularly (see Shiina Ringo) and they still have good voice. I don’t see where and how was UU2006 an aggressive thing for her voice… If she practiced more, her voice would be better.

I believe that Utada is just not used to singing so early in the morning. When she is in Japan I believe that her performances are in the evening. So she is a little more prepared. Anyways I still liked the performance. Now I wonder when Ryan Seacrest is going to upload her performances.

Thanks for all the links, Ghostdog!! I think MCML-FYI sounded really good, but they do that a lot (having someone sing during the credits then cutting them off when it has to go to the next show). CBTM sounded better than last time, but some of those notes are quite high.
Having Simple and Clean and Sanctuary on the physical album is SUCH a good idea… they need to add something or it’s not going to sell.
Some of the people on the chat were being such killjoys… makes me think U.Blog probably had a pretty good representation on there XD

Can’t wait to watch her CBS performances even though I’m as nervous as heck. I got up at 6am this morning but I just didn’t have any channel that was playing The Early Show. There was only local morning news on. It showed the next Early Show airing Monday so I really don’t know what that was about. Maybe it only airs in New York?

aw that sucks! I wish she would translate her Japanese work to English. I’m glad for the Simple and Clean and Sanctuary bonus. But seriously how awesome would her songs be if she translated them from Japanese to English. To be honest one of songs I’ve always wish she would sing in English is Dareka.
But even some other ones like be my last and what not. It actually takes a lot more work to find the right words that fit the song when translating but it can happen and I really wish she’d do it. :/ I really want to hear like a English version of her Japanese songs. Sigh I guess that really sucks that she won’t do it. I think the thing of saying it doesn’t work in English is not true. It’s finding the right words that fit the song sometimes even the direct translation works. Either way I guess I’m trying to fulfill a fantasy that’ll never happen.

no I want her to have original songs that are new I’m just saying that would be nice as well. Maybe that’s how you feel and that’s totally your opinion I guess I’m just too childish but i wouldn’t mind buying translations of her songs. I love the japanese ones but for me having them in english mean a lot too. But that’s my opinion. I agree with itakepills. A lot of the translations on the internet have all been pushed through google translate, and then words switched around a bit to make it sound better. If it flows, then it’s usually right. The only thing that could get lost in translation is references to culture, like in ‘Colors’ the reference to florescent lights, which, I hear Japanese people are not too fond of.

OMG, I missed them both! (well, SLEPT through the first, and it was gauranteed I’d miss the latter) If anyone has any youtube or other links to where we bystanders can hear or see it, I’d be much appreciative! Hopefully these won’t be her biggest and best over here (in the U.S.) yet…I’m expecting the unexpected this go-round!
