UPDATE: Z100 has added “Come Back To Me” on their online request form. Request it here!
New York’s Z100 played Utada’s “Come Back To Me” this morning, a very significant milestone in Utada’s US career. Z100 is the largest pop station in the United States, so even one spin can generate a lot of new audience impressions. If you’re in the area, please request “Come Back To Me” by calling 1-800-242-0100.

Those obscure lyric references are one of the things that is awesome about HIkki. Even though the general public is like what? LOL It is like a musical scavenger hunt.
Uyy, I can only imagine what led you people to think “Ching-a-ling” was racist =/ Completely agree with Ghostdog.
Yay brand new to this blog
hehe im going tommorow to see if i can get a glimpse of her outside the station?

uh… have you ever considered not everyone is you? you might not take it as racist, others might. And actually I’m not saying your wrong some people could take it as that Ching-a-ling means money in street talk but people could take it as a reference to Asians.
Same thing for “I love you long time” I know she says it is supposed to be humorous but I’m just saying not everyone is you or me. Not everyone will think like oh it’s just being tongue and cheek especially if they don’t know about her. I’m not stirring up controversy I’m just stating what could happen.
…..hmmmh havent been here for a while
I got to go in the studio and got a vip show of fyi!!! and we took a pic with her http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FspTBk9Zqc
I’m asian and I’m not offended by “Ching-a-ling” or “Love You Long Time.” The only thing that some Asians are taken aback from this album is Utada straightforwardness in sexual references in her lyrics. Other than that I haven’t heard other complains.
How about we all take a break from the comments and go request CBTM on every radio station? RJ has provided us with a wonderful resource that allows us to request at a lot of stations in a very short amount of time, and we should take advantage of this to help get her song as popular as possible.
Someone in GA should do some request. I read from somewhere that they haven’t play it there yet.
Someone said this on Utadanet.com
“I’ve seen the Early Show Saturday Edition, and Utada said that she’s gonna try to but the Kingdom Hearts themes (Simple And Clean and Sanctuary) as U.S bonus tracks in This Is The One, but she has to go through legal rights with Disney and Square Soft. does anyone know that they approved it yet. or if she’s gonna put them on the album or not?”
So I finally watched Utada’s “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence – FYI” performance on CBS and she definitely loosened up in the middle of the song and got better. I’ve been in denial for a while though and I’m just going to say it now. Utada hasn’t had any spectacular Live Performances since her Ultra Blue Single/Album Promotinal Days, excluding her Music Lovers Performance for HEART STATION and her Utada United Tour of course.
So now that that’s out of the way I also just watched her Backstage CBS interview and I was very happy see that she plans on more American Music and she plans to integrate her Japanese Influence into her future American Releases and also she has no desire for a Collaboration. Love it. That’s so me. It was so cute and hilarious at the end of the interview when it was over and done with and the interviewer had turned away and Utada quickly did that quick 1 second lean to the side into the camera and did a piece sign/wave and quickly leaned out of frame and walked away.
And now for “Come Back To Me”. When I first heard it, as scared as ever, the first words out of my mouth, or word, was, “YES”. It sounded so much better and I’m not ashamed at all of that performance.
So question, “Was that backstage interview the ONLY interview or was there another one?”.
So overall both of these performances were way better than her previous ones and she was definitely more comfortable. I’m curious as to which song she performed first b/c she sounded like she was starting off in the beginning of “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence – FYI” and then she got comfortable towards the second verse and sounded better, but she sounded good all throughout “Come Back To Me” so I would think she sung “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence – FYI” first based on that even though I thought she’d start off with her lead single. Anyways. Yeah. Good stuff.
More English Material. No Collaborations. Better performances. Oh yeah, and the little bit of “Me Muero” I heard was good too. I’m pleased.
No worries. Just saw the mini interview right after the performance. I didn’t realize that female interviewer also did this show. She’s also a cohost on Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN. I like her.
^ She’s been tired and nervous and her performances will only get better as time goes on and she becomes more comfortable. She’s like that horse that leaves the starting line late but finishes with a fury at the end.
TITO is gonna be a huge hit, I just feel it.
Where did some of you get “drug dealing” in “FYI”? From first listen, I thought the song was about Utada making her music and telling people if you like it, you have to give something — meaning MONEY, so stop illegal downloads and freeloading!
are any fans going to see her at z100?
Well Utada has said herself she doesn’t mind people downloading her music so that interpretation goes out the window.
^ the song is not about drug dealing LOL. Watch the movie and you’ll understand the lyrics.
^I second what Ghostdog said. Go watch the movie and you’ll understand!Someone mentioned that Hikki lyrics are like a scavenger hunt and I so agreed to that! That’s what makes Hikki lyrics unique.
This is a big, big breakthrough! But we can’t quite roll out the cake and red carpet yet to party; Her wide success in the U.S. is all but gauranteed, HOWEVER, things look brighter and more promising w/ occurences like these! I want to see the CBTM vid start playing on MTV and Vh1 soon though; Hopefully file-to-file sharing and word-of-mouth will keep it, the single, and the TITO album high on the Itunes ranks until she makes the next big move…
the song Poppin’ is also seems to be available for radio requests now!
